Just Another Sand Game is a sequel to the first video game I ever developed. It provides a plethora of detailed particle interactions without over-relying on difficult scientific concepts.

I released this beta so I could get feedback about the game and its particles. The full version will include more particles, secrets, and mod support.

FEATURES:

  • 300+ particles, each with unique interactions and behavior.
  • Half the particles are directly available to the player, while the others must be discovered!
  • Map saving/loading
  • Particles can be combined, pulverized, compacted, transmuted, heated, cooled, ignited, and electrified.
  • Simulates temperature, heat/electrical conductivity, and hardness
  • Includes sand, alloys, wood, slime, NUKES, and much more!

how to add mods. i saw a mods folder and a mods category. thanks for your time. i also like the game.

Hey, thanks for playing my game! Full mod support will be added in the full version of the game which will be releasing on steam in the future. I'm currently working on finishing the mod menu and error handling systems. When the game launches, I also plan on including some built in mods for players to use as examples.

is it on steam yet

Admittedly, progress has stalled since this semester began since I've been more involved with on-campus organizations.

I also had to implement the puzzle mode early, which has set back the release date as well.

I can assure you though that it will get on Steam eventually haha

Can I play a beta?

yes or no

Most of the changes I've made to the game since the last version have been lots of smaller, behind the scenes stuff and bug fixes. The only major thing that might be interesting is the puzzle demo, but it's nowhere near complete yet.

So no, I won't be releasing another public version until the game launches onto Steam. There just aren't any big gameplay features I want to test right now, and the current version doesn't even have any new particles yet.

i accidentally made the resolution way too big and now i can't play the game. reinstalling it kept the settings. screen is so zoomed in that i cant reach the buttons in the settings nor even move the window. sad

I will work on a fix and get back to you soon. Sorry about that.

Here's a temporary fix for the time being:

  • Launch the game
  • Press the " key. This should open the game's storage directory
  • Enter the "User Files" folder
  • Delete "config.json"

This will reset your settings back to the defaults. I am currently working on a better system for handling resolution, but it can be difficult due to the way the framework handles resolution and rendering.

If you are playing on a laptop, I would recommend changing the "Window scale %" in the video settings to 125% or 150% (whichever matches your scaling setting in Windows).
